Preparation:

  • All surfaces to be waterproofed must be firm, clean, dry, sound and smooth. All grease, oil, wax, curing compounds, loose material, paint and any other contaminants must be removed, masonry surfaces must be pointed flush and surface defects repaired. New concrete must be cured for minimum 28 days.

  • External corners to be waterproofed must be bevelled to ensure a smooth transition of membrane from vertical to horizontal surfaces.

Installation:

  • Installation of waterproofing membranes must be in accordance with AS 3740 - 2010 Waterproofing of domestic wet areas or AS4654.2-2012 Waterproofing membrane systems for exterior use - Above ground level - Design and installation, as required. Tile installation must be in accordance with AS 3958.1-2007 Ceramic tiles - Guide to the installation of ceramic tiles.

  • The floor surface onto which acoustic underlay is to be installed must smooth and even. If required, prepare surface using Schonox L-ES or Schonox L-RS. Prime concrete substrates with Schonox VD Universal primer. Schonox L-RS is a fast set and drying, self-levelling underlayment for interior and protected exterior applications. Schonox L-ES is a self-levelling underlayment for interior and protected exterior applications. Schonox VD primer is a universal acrylic primer, for use on porous and non-porous substrates.

  • Once levelling compound has cured, apply WPA 460 or WPA 560 primer. WPA460 is a two component water based epoxy primer used to seal concrete and masonry surfaces. WPA 560 Moisture Seal is a two component, water-based epoxy, designed as a water and vapour proof coating under waterproofing membranes, ceramic tile adhesives, levelling compounds and timber floors.

  • Once primer has cured, apply a minimum of two coats of WPA 500 or WPA 230 UV or WPA Rapid membrane to achieve the required dry film thickness. Ensure that the previous coat has completely dried before applying the subsequent coat(s). NOTE: All penetrations must be waterproofed. WPA 500 is a waterborne, fibre reinforced, flexible waterproof membrane designed for use under tile finishes. WPA 230 UV is an elastomeric, one part, fibre reinforced, UV stable, water based polyurethane membrane WPA Rapid is a fast curing, waterborne flexible waterproof membrane designed for use under tile finishes.

  • Once membrane is fully cured, install CTA Eco Screed. Screed must be installed to achieve a minimum of 1:100 fall. CTA ECO SCREED is a pre blended screed underlayment consisting of graded sand, cement and additives.

  • Once screed has cured, install AcoustaMat 720 or AcoustaMat 850RG using Holdfast 416. AcoustaMat products are specifically designed for the reduction of impact sound. Holdfast 416 is a semi-pressure sensitive, acrylic based, one way stick adhesive, especially formulated to give high tack and trouble free installation.

  • Once adhesive has set, apply a minimum of two coats of WPA 500 or WPA 230 UV or WPA Rapid membrane to achieve the required dry film thickness. Ensure that the previous coat has completely dried before applying the subsequent coat(s)

  • Allow membrane to cure, then install floor tiles using CTA Prohesive Lite or CTA Prohesive Megalite or CTA Ultrapro PROHESIVE™ LITE is a multi- purpose, flexible, high strength adhesive in a lightweight formula. PROHESIVE™ MEGALITE is a premium high performance polymer modified multi- purpose, high flexibility, high strength adhesive in a lightweight formula. PROHESIVE™ ULTRAPRO is a lightweight, fast setting, polymer modified, flexible, cement based adhesive.

  • Grout tiles using the appropriate colour of Problend G 10 Grout mixed with CTA ProCrete diluted 1:2 with water.

  • PROBLEND grout is a premium high quality polymer modified, flexible, cement based, coloured grout designed for grouting most types of tiles including ceramic, porcelain, natural stone and glass mosaics. PROHESIVE™ PROCRETE is a modified dispersion of Styrene Butadiene Copolymer emulsion, which can be used as an admixture for cement mortars.

  • Install backing rod to all perimeter and intermediate movement joints and seal with silicon or polyurethane sealant.

  • NOTE: HOLDFAST PRODUCTS ARE AVAILABLE IN QLD ONLY
